This traditional fruit or vegetable crate is a fine example of the wooden crates used for the delivery and storage of fresh produce at wholesale British markets up until the mid 1970s. Hand-constructed from solid and hardwearing timber, this crate has stood the test of time and would still be both useful and attractive as a garden planter or used as stylish home storage. It is in fabulous condition.
Each vintage apple crate measures 50cm (19½ inches) by 40cm (15½ inches) and 32.5cm (12½ inches) in height.
These crates are well built: constructed of rough sawn timber with corner supports and make for useful storage indoors or out.
